BACKGROUND

Trent Wells is a Director for Northland Securities, joining the firm in 2014. He has worked with a wide range of cities, counties, school districts, public utilities, economic development authorities, and special districts in Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, North Dakota, and Colorado. Trent’s areas of focus include structuring bond issues, identifying potential refunding opportunities, creating rate studies, and determining tax abatement areas. He also works with issuers to help them prepare their disclosure documents for competitive and negotiated bond sales.

Prior to joining Northland, Trent worked across several different levels of government. At the Minnesota Department of Revenue, he travelled across the State teaching taxpayers how to prepare individual income tax and property tax refund returns. He also interned in the Administrative Services Department of Carver County, Minnesota, and served as a legislative affairs intern for the Minnesota Governor’s office. While in graduate school, Trent also helped the City of Hyattsville, Maryland, become a “Sustainable Maryland Certified” City.
